As one may imagine, I’m not an artist. In grade 10 when most high school students were deciding what they wanted to be when they grew up, my school provided us with a computerized test to give us a direction to head into. Unlike a school with actual money and resources, we weren’t given Myers-Briggs tests or anything that may have given us a clear idea where we would be best suited. Instead people in our class were told to strive to become things like funeral directors, salespeople and janitors. Clearly our school didn’t want us to dream big, nor did their highly scientific test really take into account our skills before giving us our career destiny.
I know this because my test told me to become a tattoo artist. As in someone who permanently draws art on someone’s skin for them to enjoy for eternity.
This is not to lambast the tattoo artist profession. It’s noble and I may have employed one at one time. But for someone who can only create anorexic nudes (aka stick men/women) this isn’t necessarily a prosperous career goal for a 15 year old.
That’s ok though! Because I really haven’t been called on to draw a lot in my life. Generally my family and friends avoid Pictionary because it only leads to people drawing a circle to represent something like “tree” and then pointing at it over and over as the sand passes through the hourglass, getting more and more frustrated before they just yell out the answer.
But now we have Draw Something. You’ve probably heard about D.S., it’s apparently been downloaded over 50 million times and is available on all Apple app devices and Android.
I love Draw Something. It’s basically Pictionary but without the direct fighting with loved ones. If you do a Google Image search you can find some amazing art work:
First off, I’m amazed people can create such things using a touchscreen and their fingertips. Secondly, I’m still of the Pictionary mindset and I feel like I need to knock the drawing out fast so the person can guess before time runs out.
There is no timing in this game.
Also, why don’t I ever get one of these random artists? I mean I’d probably get bored to death while I wait for their artwork to unfold infront of my eyes but it would be awesome nonetheless.
I just wanted to share some of my awesomely horrible drawings, decide for yourself whether you’d like to join me in a drawing contest. You can find me under the username JenNotPicasso.
I’m willing to tattoo any of my artwork on any of you for a good price. If you don’t like what you see here, I have many others in my portfolio that I can offer. I’ll even work off of your own ideas for a higher price.
Are you on Draw Something? Let’s draw stuff together, I can say with honesty that while my drawings look kinda bad, they are usually guessed.
